Nick Kypreos with a bombshell report!
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been linked to Calgary Flames forward Kazem Kadri in trade rumors for weeks now, but according to a report from Leafs insider Nick Kypreos the Flames won't do business with the Leafs.
Kypreos reports that Flames GM Craig Conroy is hesitant to do business with Leafs GM Brad Treliving, who was formerly the Flames' GM.
"Brad Treliving has tried numerous times to trade with his old club [Calgary] in the past only to be shut down...on Tanev, Zadorov and Andersson; it may be a stretch for the Leafs to land Kadri."
Kadri, of course, was formerly with the Leafs before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche back in 2019.

Last week, the Maple Leafs acquired winger Dakota Joshua from the Vancouver Canucks in return for a fourth-round pick. The fanbase in Toronto was immediately thrilled to see a feisty forward like Joshua joining the organization, however, it did not take long to realize that general manager Brad Treliving will have to do more this offseason.
Through 57 games with the Canucks during the 2024-25 season, Joshua recorded seven goals and 14 points. He has posted 78 points (40 goals, 38 assists) in 241 career regular season NHL games split between Vancouver and St. Louis while collecting eight points (four goals, four assists) in 14 career playoff games. This sounds more like the resume of a bottom-six forward in Toronto, which means Treliving still must address the void up front from the loss of Mitch Marner.
While Treliving and head coach Craig Berube will need to figure out where all the new pieces are going to fit in, rumours have now linked the Maple Leafs to pretty much every other second-liner on the market. Because they need it.
As Hockey Patrol points out, the pressure in Toronto is mounting to add an impact forward with Marner gone.
The Maple Leafs have been linked to a few top forwards’ names on the trade market, including Calgary Flames’ Nazem Kadri and St. Louis Blues’ Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn. Which one will bring the needed punch and can the Maple Leafs make one of those trades happen?
“So for as much work as the team has done, there’s still more to do. Good thing there’s still a few months until October, though they should probably get on it sooner than later” concludes the post on Hockey Patrol.
Reports have surfaced that Kadri would be willing to waive his no-move clause specifically for a deal back to the Maple Leafs. He has four years remaining on his contract, makes $7 million against the salary cap, and has a full no-movement clause through 2025-26.
Since his departure from Toronto in 2019, Kadri has matured into a dependable top-six center, which is exactly what the Canadiens are looking to add to their roster. His 246 games with Calgary have netted him 198 points, including a career-high 35 goals last season. He also gained the best playoff experience, ending uo with a Stanley Cup ring on his finger after a championship triumph in 2022 with the Colorado Avalanche.
But Toronto needs to make something (else) happen ahead of the 2025-26 season.
