Another major injury for the Montreal Canadiens early in the season.
The Montreal Canadiens have confirmed some terrible news.
On Sunday morning, the Canadiens confirmed that they were dealing with another major injury to a roster player when they revealed that forward Kirby Dach is dealing with a fractured foot. Dach won't need surgery to repair the damage to his foot but the Canadiens expect him to miss the next four to six weeks while he recovers from the injury, a big blow to their offense moving forward.
Dach has of course dealt with injury challenges since joining the Canadiens organization and has never appeared in more than 58 games for them in a single season despite this now being his fourth season with the team. It unfortunately appears as though he will once again fall well shy of playing in a full 82 game season, a constant cause for concern when it involves one of your top forwards.
Dach was however off to a solid start this season with 5 goals and 2 assists for a total of 7 points in just 15 games, and the timing of this injury is extremely unfortunate for a player who needed to build some momentum in a positive direction.
Dach's injury does however open up a spot on the Canadiens roster and it will be forward Joshua Roy who will benefit, with the Canadiens calling up the 22 year old forward from the American Hockey League following today's injury announcement. Roy has 4 goals and 3 assists for a total of 7 points in 10 games with the AHL's Laval Rocket this season.
