Canadiens forced to make a change in goal ahead of tonight's game.
The Habs will be without Jake Allen.
The Montreal Canadiens will be without their regular starter when they face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night.
According to a report from Habs insider Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, the Canadiens have recalled goaltender Cayden Primeau ahead of tonight's game due to the fact that veteran goaltender Jake Allen will be unavailable for tonight's game. According to Lavoie, Allen and his wife are expecting the birth of their child, and it is understandable that Allen would want to be there for what is a truly once in a lifetime moment in a father's life.
Allen has been outstanding in his 2 starts for the Canadiens this season, with the 32 year old netminder recording a 2.03 goals against average and a .943 save percentage thus far, which will give Primeau some pretty big shoes to fill on short notice. Primeau on the other hand has just made a single appearance thus far this season and that was for the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League and only lasted a total of 64 minutes. The 23 year old recorded a 5.58 goals against average and a .842 save percentage over that stretch, so he will seek to improve on that if he is indeed called upon to step in between the pipes.
