Canadiens provide a terrible update on Kirby Dach.

Kirby Dach was injured after a big hit from Jarred Tinordi and the update is not good.

Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach has suffered yet another injury and unfortunately it sounds like this one is pretty bad.

On Monday morning, the Canadiens confirmed that the injury suffered by Dach over the weekend was "significant" although they did not provide additional details on the nature of the injury. What is clear is that the Canadiens do not expect this to be a short-term situation, indicating that they expect Dach will be out for quite a while.

Dach suffered the injury during Saturday's game against his former team, the Chicago Blackhawks, when he was on the receiving end of a big hit from Blackhawks defenseman Jarred Tinordi. The hit was delivered with enough force that it drove Dach into the Blackhawks bench, although it appears as though it was his lower body that was damaged on the play.

The Canadiens are still evaluating Dach before officially providing an update on the nature of his injury, however Habs insider Eric Engels is speculating that this is likely a knee injury.

This is a disaster for a team that has struggled with injury issues over the past few seasons, and even more so for a player that has had his own share of struggles with injury issues throughout his career.

We likely will know more in the coming days, so stay tuned for more updates.
