Last night was tough to watch. The Montreal Canadiens suffered a humiliating 7-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils, the last-placed Metropolitan Division team. The Habs went into the break after suffering 7-2 and 6-3 losses on consecutive nights and then this. The Canadiens have been outscored 33-12 in their last five games.
Fans wanted executive vice president of hockey operations Jeff Gorton and general manager Kent Hughes to do something. And they did on Wednesday, firing Canadiens coach Dominique Ducharme who seemed out of solution after last night’s defeat. Jean-Charles Lajoie of TVA Sports was first to break the news.
It was looking more and more like some players have either given up on the season or stopped playing for Ducharme.
More to come.
