The Montreal Canadiens have traded away veteran goaltender Andrew Hammond not long after acquiring him in a trade from the Minnesota Wild.

The Canadiens have officially announced that Hammond is being dealt to the New Jersey Devils for centerman Nate Schnarr.

Hammond performed admirably in his limited time with the Montreal Canadiens. Over the course of 4 games he recorded a 2.40 goals against average and a .920 save percentage, a pretty strong performance all things considered. Expectations for Hammond were not particularly high when he was acquired, but he managed to pick up 3 wins during his tenure with the Habs.

Schnarr is a former 3rd round draft pick (75th overall) of the Arizona Coyotes at the 2017 National Hockey League Entry Draft and has yet to appear in a single NHL game during his professional hockey career. He spent this most recent season as a member of the Utica Comets, scoring 13 goals and recording 13 assists for a combined total of 26 points in 43 games in the American Hockey League. He picked up 26 penalty minutes over that stretch of play and had a solid plus minus rating of +13 on the season in the AHL.
