Unverified claims have surfaced online, drawing scrutiny toward the Canucks head coach and his son.
Vancouver Canucks head coach Adam Foote is facing scrutiny this week after social media posts shared by Anna Kane. Kane, ex-wife of Canucks’ player Evander Kane, alleged that Adam Foote is a sexual offender, claiming he is “just like his son,” Cal Foote, or even hitting that the apple did not fall far from the tree.

Cal Foote was previously involved in a high-profile legal case: he, along with four other former members of Canada’s World Junior hockey team, faced sexual assault allegations in London, Ontario, seven years ago. All five were found not guilty this past summer. Anna Kane’s posts highlight this history, suggesting that Adam shares similar behavior to his son, according to her perspective.
The claims about Adam Foote, which surfaced this week through Anna Kane’s social media accounts, have not been substantiated or verified by any legal authority. No formal investigation or legal action has been announced.
When Adam Foote was introduced as the new head coach of the Canucks, Canucks’ management had to field questions about their new head’s coach’s son.
“Adam is not in trial,”said general manager Patrik Allvin.“Obviously we respect the process that’s going on, but Adam is not in the trial there.”
Adam Foote himself also addressed the question, saying:
“I respect your question. I understand that it’s your job to do that,”Foote said in response to the question posed by TSN’s Farhan Lalji.“You know I can’t comment on the trial, and I won’t. I’m there for my family, as we all would be. We’ll get through this.”
At the time, his son had not been found not guilty yet.
Anna Kane, who is still in an ugly custody battle with Evander Kane, is therefore not surprised to see that Adam Foote has been fine with coaching her ex husband seeing that she claims they are both guilty of sexual misconduct or worse. She has a lot of followers on social media.
The situation underscores how social media and personal disputes can ripple across the hockey world, creating scrutiny for high-profile figures even in the absence of legal proceedings. While serious, the allegations remain unverified claims shared online, and the hockey community continues to watch closely.
