Canucks and Canadiens pull off a significant trade

UPDATE: It's official, the Canucks have acquired goaltender Casey DeSmith from the Canadiens in exchange for Tanner Pearson and a 3rd round pick.

According to a report from NHL insider Darren Dreger, the Vancouver Canucks have traded veteran forward Tanner Pearson to the Montreal Canadiens.

Dreger's TSN colleague Chris Johnston also reports that the Canucks have not retained any salary on Pearson's $3.25 million cap hit.
