Canucks break their own fans’ hearts with latest ad campaign...
There is panic in Vancouver and we get why fans aren’t liking this. Full story below:
With Vancouver out of the postseason from the start, the Canucks entered the offseason back in April and have recently just dropped a quiet bombshell — and it came in the form of a post and its poster.
As part of a new ad campaign to boost season ticket sales, the team featured four players front and center: captain Quinn Hughes, along with forwards Jake DeBrusk, Conor Garland, and Kiefer Sherwood. But two names were noticeably absent: Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser.
And for all Canucks fans, that silence speaks volumes.
We all remember how the 2024-25 season was derailed by internal tensions, most notably a very public falling-out between star forwards J.T. Miller and Pettersson. The feud between the two reportedly became so toxic that it led to Miller getting traded to the New York Rangers. The team and its fans thought it would allow Pettersson to bounce back once Miller was out of the picture, however, the Swede didn’t exactly rebound and his underwhelming production left fans and execs frustrated, especially after the team missed the playoffs following a strong previous season.
Since then, the dominoes have started to fall. Head coach Rick Tocchet has left to coach the Philadelphia Flyers. Brock Boeser is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, and few expect him to re-sign in Vancouver. And in just a few weeks, Pettersson’s full no-movement clause kicks in. After that, his $11.6M cap hit — locked in through 2031–32 — becomes almost impossible to move.
There is a strong belief out there that the Canucks are quietly testing the trade market for Pettersson now, before the window closes.
Which would explained the latest ad campaign and that poster…
No Pettersson. No Boeser. Just a few safer, long-term bets. Are the Canucks subtly preparing the fanbase for two major departures?
Online reaction would suggest yes and, as you can understand, fans in Vancouver aren’t liking it…
Some fans are already wondering if this could be part of a longer play to improve draft odds. Why? Because the projected top pick in 2026, Gavin McKenna, is a potential generational talent… who just happens to be from right next door.
If this is not a pending rebuild, the Canucks are definitely rearranging the pieces. And the message is clear: big changes are coming.
