Canucks defenseman will miss entire 2024-25 season, career may be over
Concussions are no joke... is this the end?
This just in, the Vancouver Canucks have announced that defenseman Tucker Poolman will miss the entire 2024-25 NHL campaign due to concussion issues.
Poolman is entering the final year of a four year contract that pays him $2.5 million per season. His entire salary cap hit will be essentially wiped out for the Canucks though, due to him being placed on long term injury reserve.
The 31 year old blueliner has played just four games since 2022 and missed all of last season. At this point it's safe to say that his NHL career is likely over. Which is terrible sad because the native of Dubuque, Iowa has never been able to put in a full 82 game campaign over the course of his short career. He has struggled with injuries both during his time with the Canucks and with the team that drafted him, the Winnipeg Jets.
In total, Poolman has played just 163 NHL games across six seasons, averaging just 27 games per year.
