Canucks fans revolt over shocking GM candidate!

The Vancouver Canucks’ search for a new general manager has taken a dramatic turn.

According to insider Frank Seravalli, the organization has reportedly received a wave of backlash from fans and business figures over one particular candidate: Pierre Dorion.

Speaking on Frank Hockey, Seravalli revealed that season ticket holders and members of Vancouver’s business community have voiced serious concerns about the possibility of Dorion being hired, with some reportedly viewing it as “the last straw.” While Seravalli noted Dorion could still remain somewhere in the mix, he suggested the former Ottawa executive now sits on the lower end of the candidate list.

The comments come as the Canucks enter the final stages of their GM search to find a replacement for Patrik Allvin. Team president Jim Rutherford recently confirmed that the organization interviewed between 15 and 20 candidates before narrowing the field down to five finalists.

Dorion’s history in Ottawa appears to be fueling much of the resistance. During his seven-year tenure as general manager of the Ottawa Senators from 2016 to 2023, the club posted a 225-261-59 record and made the playoffs just once. Although the Senators came within one goal of the Stanley Cup Final during his first season in charge, the organization struggled to build sustained success afterward.

Dorion was ultimately dismissed in November 2023 following an NHL investigation involving the mishandling of Evgenii Dadonov’s no-trade list during a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Now, with tensions already high among Vancouver fans after another disappointing stretch for the franchise, the idea of Dorion potentially taking over hockey operations has sparked a reaction strong enough to reportedly reach ownership circles.

As the Canucks move closer to a decision, it’s clear the pressure surrounding this hire is only growing, and Dorion’s chances… dying.
