The Vancouver Canucks might not be having a great summer...
They have just over $5 million in cap space and they still have a lot to do this offseason. One of the most important things to pull off, on top of re-signing restricted free agent Nikolay Goldobin, is getting Brock Boeser under contract.
Vancouver Sun’s Ben Kuzma recently told TSN that Boeser is seeking $7 millions annually. You can do the math, here.
The Canucks could demote players to the farm club, however it won’t be enough to get both Goldobin and Boeser. Therefore, the Canucks will have to make a trade to get enough cash under their belt to keep these two.
Forwards Brandon Sutter, Jay Beagle and Tanner Pearson have been mentioned more than once in trade chatter. Moving Sutter would free up $4.375 million, while trading away Beagle would get the Canucks $3 million back. Pearson’s AAV is $3.75 million and Vancouver would also benefit from his being traded.
Who will go?
Someone has to, it’s just a matter of time before we find out who…
