The Vancouver Canucks made some moves at the last minute on Deadline Day, but will not be thrilled to find out that Evander Kane and Teddy Blueger were not traded.

Instead, the Canucks shipped out David Kampf to the Washington Capitals and Lukas Reichel to the Boston Bruins, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.

Washington also traded a sixth-round pick for Kampf.

Kampf started the season with the Toronto Maple Leafs before being placed on unconditional waivers to terminate his contract in November. He then signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal as a free agent with Vancouver.

The veteran has taken part in in 38 games for the Canucks this season, picking up two goals and four assists for six points, along with a plus/minus rating of minus-12. He was likely brought in in hopes to replace Nic Dowd, who was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.

This is the second time this season that Reichel has been traded. In late October, the winger traded to the Canucks by the Chicago Blackhawks for a 2027 fourth-round pick.

After a tough time in Chicago, things didn’t get any better in Vancouver. He has played just 14 games with Vancouver since the trade, spending most of the time with the club’s American Hockey League affiliate. In 23 games with Abbotsford, he has scored six goals and seven assists for 13 points.
