Just rebuild already!
The Vancouver Canucks have traded defenseman Jett Woo to the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Jack Thompson.
“Jett was a key part of our AHL championship winning team and we would like to thank him for all that he has done for the Canucks organization,” said Canucks GM Patrik Allvin in a prepared statement. “Bringing in Jack will add to our organizational depth on the blueline, and we look forward to working with him in Abbotsford.”
The fact is that Woo was in the Canucks organization for eight seasons and he never came close to sniffing the NHL. Today's trade gives him a fresh start with a new team that's looking to inject some new energy into their blue line.
As for Thompson, the 23 year old defenseman actually managed to get into 31 games with the Sharks last season but has spent this entire season in the AHL. He'll be a depth option for the Canucks moving forward but he could be called up to the NHL now that the team has moved on from veteran blueliner Tyler Myers.
