According to Jim Benning, general manager for the Vancouver Canucks, Jake Virtanen is expected to return with the Canucks after his average performance for team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

He was held to only an assist and was part of Canada's undisciplined final game against Finland today in the Quarter-finals. Virtanen ended up taking two costing penalties on the same shift, that open the door for Patrick Laine's game winning goal.

Despite the belief that Virtanen would be better serve playing for the Calgary Hitmen in an offensive role with big minutes, he will be going back to Vancouver in a checking role with bottom six minutes.
