The Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues have made a trade.

On Monday, the Capitals officially announced that they had acquired defenseman Corey Schueneman from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for another defenseman in Calle Rosen. The move is a 1 for 1 trade with no additional players or picks involved in this deal.

Funnily enough both men last played at the National Hockey League level as members of the St. Louis Blues so there's little doubt that the Blues are intimately familiar with both of the players being moved in this deal.

Schueneman has not played in the NHL this season with 9 American Hockey League games under his belt, all with the Springfield Thunderbirds. Over those 9 games he has 1 goal and 5 assists for 6 points.

Rosen has also not played at the NHL level this season and also has 9 AHL games under his belt, albeit this time as a member of the Hershey Bears. Rosen also has a single goal on the season but has 6 assists to his name giving him one more point than Schueneman with 7 total points.

Rosen does have significantly more NHL experience than Schueneman with 93 career games under his belt compared to just 35 for Schueneman, but Rosen has not played in a single NHL game over the past two seasons while Schueneman was active in the NHL last season, playing in 4 games for the Blues.

Let me know who you think wins this one in the comments.
