Another trade took place on the opening day of free agency. The Ottawa Senators pulled another move, this time sending Connor Brown to the Washington Capitals in return for a 2nd round pick in 2024, per insider Bob McKenzie.
Brown was selected as a sixth-round pick (156th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2012 NHL Draft. He had 10 goals and 29 assists in 64 games with the Sens, his third season with the team. Throughout his career so far, he scored 90 goals and 216 points in 44 career NHL games with the Leafs and Senators.
Brown, who is 28, put up career-high 43 points with the Senators in 2019-20. The hope is that with the right linemates in Washington, Brown could reach 40-point mark again.
