It’s looking like it’s over for Carey Price as it’s been reported that he suffered a training setback and may miss the entire 2022-23 season, if he isn’t forced to retire and end a 15-season NHL career.

Fans in Montreal had high hopes when Price returned to action last April against the Washington Capitals in front of a rocking crowd at Bell Centre. The former Hart-Trophy winning goaltender had missed the entire 2021-22 season up until that point after checking himself into the NHL’s Player Assistance Program, as well as rehabilitating from offseason surgery.

For his combined efforts, Price was awarded the Bill Masteron Trophy for his perseverance and dedication to hockey. But unfortunately, his career might end with this…

Price, who had received injections into his knee earlier this summer, was scheduled to meet with a doctor in July, but the appointment was cancelled. Then, Habs GM Kent Hughes announced that Price would be unlikely to play in the upcoming 2022-23 season, casting a shadow of doubt over his future hockey career.

Over the weekend, Price’s wife Angela made a plea on social media in which she requested well wishers to leave comments of support and encouragement for her husband.

On Tuesday, she offered some information about her husband and the family’s status. She revealed in different Instagram stories that the Price family will spend the entire season in Montreal.

Does this mean that there is some hope that Price could return? Let the fans in Montreal dream a little bit. We may have seen the last of Price on an ice rink, but something tells us he’ll still remain in the public eye, especially in Montreal where fans love him.

Plus, he’s in the midst of an eight-year, $84 million contract and might want to stick around to help younger players in the big city. In addition to the Hart Trophy, Price is also a two-time Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL’s top goaltender.
