The Canes commentator made quite a stir on social media last night.

The longtime color commentator of the Carolina Hurricanes caused quite a stir on social media last night.

Tripp Tracy, who has been the voice of Hurricanes broadcasts for over two decades now, was active on Twitter in which he alluded to battling an addiction; some of the tweets were later deleted.

Tracy was not on the call during last night's game against the New York Rangers, a 4-3 Carolina win that clinched the Metropolitan Division.

Earlier this afternoon, the Hurricanes put out an official statement on Tracy in which they expressed full support and asked for his privacy to be respected:

“Tripp is going to take some time away from the team and the broadcast to address a personal matter,” said Hurricanes President and General Manager Don Waddell. “We are in full support of his efforts to get healthy and ask that everyone please respect his privacy in this matter."

Tracy once again took to Twitter earlier today, expressing remorse for being an "extremely unimpressive distraction" from last night's game.

"I am disgusted with myself that on the night @canes win the Metro Division that I was an extremely unimpressive distraction," he wrote. "I accept and know the steps I need to take to deal with this problem. Thank you to all Huge Caniacs for being so incredibly supportive."

Tracy's latest message has been met with an outpouring of support from fans. We certainly send him our support and hope that he's able to overcome his issue.
