The trial involving five members of Team Canada's 2018 World Junior Championships team continued in a London, ON court today with former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart taking the stand to testify.

Hart is accused of sexually assaulting an unnamed woman identified only as E.M., along with Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote.

Hart admitted to having consensual relations with E.M. and even engaging in a threesome with E.M. and McLeod, but things never progressed that far.

“I was open to sexual encounters,” Hart said.  “A single guy, I was having a good time that weekend. I was open to it. I kind of looked at it as an invitation, I assumed, that he was with a girl who wanted to have a threesome with another guy,” Hart said.

Hart says when he arrived in McLeod's hotel room he immediately saw E.M. naked on the floor surrounded by some of Hart's teammates, and that E.M. was masturbating and that she seemed aroused by having the young men watch her.

“I could not believe some of the things she was saying,” Hart said.

Hart then testified that he received oral sex from E.M. but only for approximately 30-60 seconds, as he found the whole situation "weird". He claimed that he had difficulty getting erect with his teammates watching him and that he put an end to things rather quickly. This is when he said that E.M.'s tone seemed to change, she started getting annoyed that none of the young men were engaging with her, despite her requests.

When asked if he witnessed anything degrading happen to E.M. that evening, Hart replied, "No, never."

“If something like that happened, I would have stopped or I would have left,” he said. “I can’t see why I would have stayed in that room for so long.”
