This may be the start of a bitter rivalry between two of the National Hockey League's biggest stars.

Saturday night was the scene of controversy when the San Jose Sharks and New York Islanders went head to head in one of the NHL's late games. That controversy would arise during the final moments of the game with just a little over 5 minutes left in the first period, with Islanders star forward Mat Barzal and Sharks star forward Macklin Celebrini at the center of it all.

It was Barzal who was the instigator in this one when he appeared to deliver a blindside hit to the head of Celebrini, a hit that was also interference as the puck was never anywhere near Celebrini when the hit was delivered.

The young Sharks star was clearly shaken up, immediately grabbing at his head after the hit and even appeared to be shaken up on the Sharks bench, but in spite of that there was no penalty called on the play.

Here is a look at the replay:

Celebrini was asked about the controversial hit following the game and he chose not to answer the question at all. Although Celebrini may not have used any words, his physical reaction to the question says everything you need to know about his feelings regarding the hit from Barzal.

I suspect this one may be far from over.
