Flyers and Sens both lose a man to injury.
It has been a physical battle between the Ottawa Senators and the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon and now, somewhat unsurprisingly, both teams have lost a player to injury as a result of all that physicality.
We had already seen a pair of fights this afternoon but the first injury would come on the Flyers' side of the ice when forward Wade Allison went down, writhing in pain, as he delivered an awkward looking hit along the boards. The injury appeared to be to Allison's left leg, which he led with during the hit and which he seemed unable or unwilling to put any weight on as he left the ice.
To be clear Allison was not able to leave under his own power, and had to be helped off the ice by his teammates.
Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot was also injured on the night when he was on the receiving end of a big hit from Flyers forward Travis Konecny. Konecny drilled Chabot from behind and pinned Chabot between his body and the boards, but the Senators defenseman contributed in a big way to that outcome. Right as Konecny went in for the hit, Chabot suddenly and drastically altered his trajectory, and by extension the position of his body.
Chabot would be able to leave the ice under his own power, but appeared to be in some discomfort.
