Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara is now the oldest active player in the NHL after Matt Cullen announced his retirement on Wednesday.

Cullen, a forward who played 21 seasons in the NHL, is 136 days older than the defenseman, who turned 42 on March 18.

However, the Bruins giant defenseman is not done playing, he who signed a one-year contract extension a few days following his birthday.

Chara therefore felt the need to comment on the situation, but did it in the best way possible. He took to Instagram with a hilarious photoshopped picture of himself wearing a throwback helmet made decades ago.

“It’s hard to believe I’m now the oldest active player in the NHL,” Chara wrote in his Instagram caption.

“It’s been a long time since my rookie season but this game always keeps me young. Having the opportunity to play in the league all these years with and against the best players in the world has taught me time and time again that it’s a humbling game and age is just a number!”

Heck, the guy appears way younger! He played with a broken jaw in the Stanley Cup final.

Nothing can stop him and that includes his age!
