A gruesome scene in Toronto on Sunday night after a skate blade strikes Legault.
I can only hope that young Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Charles-Alexis Legault is going to be alright.
On Sunday night. Legault appeared to suffer a pretty serious injury during a bit of a messy situation at the end of the first period between the aforementioned Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs. Legault had his hand sliced open on the skate of Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson after Robertson was knocked to the ice with a hit from behind.
It initially looked as though nothing had happened at all, that was until a clear trail of crimson began to appear on the ice with the trail leading directly to Legault's injured hand. The broadcast quickly cut away from the scene as some of the commentators at ice level commented on just how gruesome the cut on his hand appeared to be, with the response from the team's medical staff also making it look like a serious situation.
Legault's hand was immediately wrapped up and he was rushed into the locker room, and at the time of this writing that is the last we have seen Legault with no update forthcoming just yet.

Toronto journalist David Alter captured a great shot of the mess Legault left before leaving the ice:
Hopefully Legault is going to be alright, stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
