In spite of the fact that he is no longer a member of the Calgary Flames and is in fact playing on a new team in a completely different country, it seems that Matthew Tkachuk brought his hatred of the Los Angeles Kings to Florida with him from Calgary.

During his time with the Flames, Tkachuk developed quite the rivalry with the Kings thanks in large part to a number of heated exchanges with Kings defenseman Drew Doughty. On Saturday night Tkachuk and the Kings clashed once again, and once again Tkachuk found himself at the center of controversy when he took some liberties with Kings veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick.

During the dying seconds of the game's third and final period, Tkachuk would appear to attempt to poke the blade of his stick through Quick's mask. As you might have expected this would enrage the Kings' goaltender, but of course his primary concern was his eye.

Here's a look at video of the eye poke itself, as well as the subsequent replays:

As you can tell from the video, Quick was in some distress, but thankfully his face appeared to have avoided any serious damage:

Just moments later in the game we would once again see a crowd form in front of the Kings' net, and this time Quick would seek his revenge on Tkachuk. The veteran goaltender went after Tkachuk, clearly motivated by revenge following the poke through his mask, but that would in turn lead to more chaos. What was initially Quick going after Tkachuk quickly turned into an all out melee on the ice, perhaps a sign of the fact that Tkachuk's personal rivalry with the Kings will now continue during his tenure with the Panthers.

Here's a look at the melee that ensued in front of the Kings' net:

Something tells me that we haven't seen the last of the clashes between Matthew Tkachuk and the Los Angeles Kings.
