Edmonton Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli set the National Hockey League rumor mill ablaze last week when he confirmed that his 4th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft was up for grabs.

On Monday Chiarelli doubled down on his earlier statement, and now it sounds like there is a very real chance a deal will in fact get done. According to Chiarelli he has already received calls from multiple NHL teams, and that would indicate there is significant interest in moving up in the draft.

Chairelli was a guest on Oilers Now when he made the comments, and stated that after the calls he has made it known, presumably to other NHL general managers, that he is looking to move down in the draft, meaning he still wants a first round pick in return.

"I've already had 4 or 5 teams call me already. I've made it known we would look to trade down if the right deal is there."

No word on what teams have contacted Chiarelli, but with the draft drawing close we won't have to wait long for an answer.
