Speedy forward Andreas Athanasiou, who just completed his first season with the Chicago Blackhawks after agreeing to a free-agent deal, will be back for a second (and third) season in the Windy City.

Earlier this afternoon, it was announced that the Blackhawks have re-signed him to a two year contract with a cap hit of $4.25 million.

Athanasiou scored 20 goals with 20 assists in 81 games played last season, along with a -29 plus/minus rating.

Drafted in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings, he's appeared in a total of 459 NHL games and racked up 125 goals and 111 assists while playing for Detroit, the Edmonton Oilers, the Los Angeles Kings and Blackhawks.
