The timing couldn't be any worse for Chris Kreider or the New York Rangers. Fresh off of signing a big, new contract, and with the Rangers in the hunt for a wild card sport in the Eastern Conference, Kreider left the game against the Philadelphia Flyers after blocking a shot with his foot. It was later announced he would not be returning and that his foot is fractured.

Kreider had just signed a new contract with the Rangers on Monday worth $6.5 million per season for seven years. He currently has 24 goals and 45 points for the Rangers in 62 games. There's been no announcement yet on how much time he might miss, but a fractured foot is likely to take weeks of recovery time, depending on the severity. We'll have more when it becomes available.
