The Pittsburgh Penguins are heading to Nashville with a 2-0 lead in their Stanley Cup Final series against the Predators. Jake Guentzel, Scott Wilson and Evgeni Malkin all tallied in the first 3:28 of the 3rd to power the Penguins past the Predators in Game 2, 4-1. Following the victory, Chris Kunitz sent a clear message to the fans prior game 3.
“We’ve got to go out there and play one of the dullest road games of the season.” Said Kunitz. With a 2-0 lead, the Penguins will certainly minimize risky/creative plays to concentrate on tight defensive play. As they probably know, the Predators will be hungry at home opening game and will give the Penguins a hard time during the first period. That is why, the Penguins need to focus on simple plays and minimize mistakes.
Kunitz saw a bit of decline this season, scoring 9 goals and 20 assists for 29 points in 71 games. The 37-year-old, two-time Stanley Cup Champion had 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points across the Penguins’ 24-game Stanley Cup-winning Playoff run last season.
