Chris Stewart misses a punch & hits his own teammate in the face.

Minnesota Wild forward Chris Stewart has taken his usual tough guy antics to a whole new level.

On Sunday night Stewart attack his own teammate, Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise, although he did so entirely by accident. Stewart was attempting to get a sucker punch in on San Jose Sharks' forward Joel Ward, but he whiffed the blow and instead caught Parise flush in the face.

Despite the fact that the initial blow sent Parise's head rocking back, he did not appear to have been too shaken up by the impact. Parise instead got in a couple of laughs in the scrum, likely at Stewart's expense, which is probably the best Stewart could hope for given the circumstances.

Stewart though says it was all part of his plan:

"It’s chippy at the front of the net. So, I just was making sure he was into the game. I thought I’d wake him up," he said as per Mike Russo of the Star Tribune.
