Christine Simpson has been a fixture on hockey broadcasts for years, known for her professionalism and resilience in one of the most demanding roles in sports media. On Wednesday, she shared deeply personal news with the public.

Simpson announced on social media that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

"Some news… I've been diagnosed with breast cancer," Simpson wrote. "Thankfully they caught it early, I'm feeling great, and they're very optimistic about my outcome."

The veteran broadcaster struck an unmistakably positive tone in her message, leaning into the qualities that have defined her career both on and off camera.

"My strength & resilience have always served me well & I know those qualities will continue to as I face this latest challenge," she added.

The response from colleagues across the hockey and sports media world was immediate and heartfelt.

TSN insider Darren Dreger was among the first to reply, offering words of encouragement. "You've never backed away from a challenge or wilted after a setback. You got this, Simmer," Dreger wrote. "Strength and resilience absolutely defines you."

ESPN's Linda Cohn also chimed in with support. "You got this Christine!!!! We love you!!!" Cohn wrote.

Simpson's post quickly gained traction, drawing thousands of views and hundreds of supportive replies within minutes of being published.

The fact that the cancer was detected at an early stage is a significant and encouraging detail. Early detection of breast cancer is widely associated with higher survival rates and more treatment options, and Simpson's optimism about her prognosis appears to reflect that medical reality.

Simpson has long been regarded as one of the most respected voices in hockey broadcasting, and the outpouring of support from peers and fans alike speaks to the impact she has made across the sport.

The hockey world, including all of us here at Hockey Feed, now rallies behind one of its own as Simpson prepares to take on what she herself has called her latest challenge.
