Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane might be out of action on the ice, it has not prevented him from being active in his community. The Oilers lost Kane to a gruesome wrist injury a month ago, however reports were leaked on social media that the top forward has hosted a holiday shopping spree to 100 high school students on Thursday.
Kane offered each student one of his Oilers’ t-shirt along with 250$ to spend on something for themselves. When the Oilers’ forward found out that two students used the money to buy groceries for their household, Kane gave each of them an extra $250 to get a present for themselves.
That’s classy, you have to admit!
Over the years, Kane has been at the center of many unflattering reports, most recently when it comes to his bankruptcy history or the stories with his estranged wife Anna.
I am not saying that this erases all of the bad stuff we’ve heard about Kane in the past, ever since he kicked off his career in the NHL, but there seems to be hope for change in his behaviour thanks to this leaked report.
Before suffering the severe gash on his left wrist, Kane had put 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 14 games this season. He signed a four-year, $20.5 million contract ($5.125 million average annual value) July 13.
