Jonathan Huberdeau was first shocked when he got the call from Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito that he had been traded to the Calgary in a monster move that included Matthew Tkachuk. He never saw it coming… however, he did not stay stunned for long, focusing on signing an eight-year, $84,000,000 contract with the Flames, establishing himself as a key piece of the future in Calgary.

And he did not only mean that on the ice. Off the ice, Huberdeau is also looking to make a difference. On Tuesday night, ahead of the game against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins, his agent Allan Walsh revealed how Huberdeau has pulled off an incredibly classy move to contribute to the community, opening a suite known as Hubey’s Hangout for underprivileged and disadvantaged kids to attend all Flames home games at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Huberdeau has had the reputation of being a class act and a genuine good guy across the league, and it was obvious to many that he would want to make a positive impact in Calgary, the same way he did during his time in Miami.

The talented forward has quickly endeared himself to the city, fulling embracing the move to become a fanbase favourite.
In X games this season as a new member of the Flames, Huberdeau has collected a goal and five points, putting up his first tally as a member of the Flames last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins in front of those kids - but most importantly, he had garnered the respect and appreciation of the community in Calgary.

Bravo, Huberdeau!
