Claude Giroux swears at referee and gets caught on hot mic
You cannot blame him!

The Ottawa Senators were trailing behind 2-1 against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night, and they didn’t get any help from the officials.
In the second period, veteran forward Claude Giroux was evidently tripped by Rasmus Asplund, falling face first onto the head and getting it straight back up to hear the penalty against the Sabres.
However, no call came.
Right away, Giroux reacted by swearing at the referee and the microphone on the boards caught what the forward had to say:
“Hey, what the fuck, ref!”
Of course, Giroux’s reaction was caught on hot mic as commentators were silent in those split seconds during the game.
We can understand Giroux’s frustration with the non-call. The Senators could have certainly use the power-play opportunity to get back into the game and tying things up.
The season is just starting and that includes the work of the officials who are getting back on track.
Let’s hope they don’t miss too many calls like this or else Giroux won’t be the only player swearing on live television.
The Senators ended up losing 4-1 to the Sabres in their first game of the season.
