Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien was severely criticized by both the fans and the journalists yesterday night. He made a very bold decision when he decided to bench two of his best players, Jonathan Drouin and Alex Galchenyuk, at the start of the overtime, in order to use Tomas Plekanec and Paul Byron.

Many people were truly disappointed and blamed the coach for his team's loss. Therefore, Julien felt the need to explain his decision today:

"Is it a defensive strategy? No. When you decide to start the period with Byron, you know he's good enough, you know he's able to score goals. These two players (Byron and Plekanec) have a certain chemistry, but at the same time, you wanna counter the opposite team's best players."

So he says he doesn't use defensive strategy, but he still wants his players to focus on shutting down the opposite team...

He then went on to explain why Galchenyuk and Drouin didn't have the opportunity to play:

"Pacioretty is our best scorer, and I matched him with Phillip Danault because they have a good chemistry. Galchenyuk and Drouin were next. What would have happened if we would have used these guys and the Jackets would've scored immediately? Do you think someone would've said that we didn't make the right call because we should've used better defensive players? This is my strategy, and it worked for us against Buffalo."

With such explanations, do you believe he made the right call yesterday night?
