The New Jersey Devils have announced that they’ve made two coaching changes to their staff for next season. The team confirmed it has mutually agreed to part ways with Assistant Coach Alain Nasreddine, as his contract will not be renewed. Additionally, Assistant Coach Mark Recchi has been relieved of his duties. The announcement was made by Devils’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

The expectations were high in Jersey in the offseason, however, the Devils finished with a 27-46-9 record and 63 points, placing them 27th in the NHL standings.

While more changes are likely to come this summer on the roster, GM Fitzgerald has started the haul with the decision to part ways with parts of the coaching staff.

Many fans believe Nasreddine won’t be without an NHL job for long. After all, his penalty kills have generally ranked in the top half of the league. However, he was part of the Devils’ coaching staff for seven years and this might be the right call to get in fresh ideas.

Head coach Lindy Ruff is still at the helm, but will get some help, hopefully on the back end for a better season in 2022-23.
