Red Wings fans were not happy with the performance they got from their team last night, and least happy of all was Head Coach Mike Babcock. Babcock spoke with nhl.com following the Wings 3-1 road loss in Ottawa and had some choice words for his playe
"We were as bad as we could be." "You don’t like to see many games like that" "I haven’t seen us like that this year"Those are just a few of the comments Babcock had regarding his team's performance, but as harsh as he was on his players Babcock was on his players he was equally critical of the role he and his staff played in the loss:
"Our preparation, the job we did as coaches and the focus we had for the game of taking care of the puck, we obviously didn’t get our message across and didn’t do a very good job of having our team ready."Despite a great 31 save performance from goaltender Jimmy Howard, he even shut the door on Senator Kyle Turris during a break away to keep the game at 0-0, the Wings couldn't click on offense and the end result was a defeat. Babcock summed it up perfectly at the end of his press conference.
“We didn’t play hard as a group. In the end, it’s real simple. You do good things, good things happen to you. We got exactly what we deserved here tonight.”
