Team Canada hit the ice for practice today ahead of tomorrow's Semi-Final matchup against Finland and noticeably absent from the session were veteran forwards Sidney Crosby, Brad Marchand and Nathan MacKinnon.

Captain Crosby, of course, left yesterday's victory over Czechia after suffering an apparent lower body injury on a hit from Czech defenseman Radko Gudas. Hit status moving forward is not yet known, while both Marchand and MacKinnon will be expected to play on Friday.

As for Sid the Kid, Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper told reporters this morning that Crosby's status is day to day and there's hope that he'll be able to play tomorrow.

Interestingly enough, if Crosby can't play tomorrow then Cooper will have to designate someone else to wear the "C" thaks to IIHF rules.

So... assuming Sid can't go then you have to figure Connor McDavid would be named captain, right? Sure this is a team with plenty of leadership, but McDavid has been the team's best player and has essentially thrown this team on his back thus far.

Any other candidates more worthy?
