Coach Keefe gives an injury update on his two top goaltenders
Mrazek done for the season!
HockeyFeed
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe updated the media on the health of his two starting goaltenders Jack Campbell and Petr Mrazek today and... well... Leafs fans aren't going to like this.
Keefe announced that Mrazek is done for the season, but that Campbell has been medically cleared to return. Also, defenseman Jake Muzzin is nearing a return.
How many expletives do you think GM Kyle Dubas have shouted out this morning in his office? The Leafs were, of course, in pursuit of a goaltender ahead of the NHL's March 21st trade deadline and came up short. Now... well... they're down one NHL calibre goaltender for the remainder of the season. That means that it's Jack Campbell or bust.
Erik Kallgren has been serviceable in his limited time and Michael Hutchinson is fine as depth, but to count on either of these guys heading into the stretch drive and the playoffs is a recipe for disaster. Thoughts, Leafs fans?
