UPDATE: Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has confirmed that captain Connor McDavid is a 'game time decision' for tonight's do or die Game 5 against the Anaheim Ducks.

NHL insider Chris Johnston has just issued a very troubling report from Edmonton, confirming this morning that Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was NOT on the ice for his team's gameday skate ahead of Game 5 against the Anaheim Ducks this evening.

Check it out:

Oilers fans have been speculating for a couple weeks now that McDavid is suffering through an injury and his play through four games in this series certainly seems to lend credence to the speculation. McDavid and the Oilers have denied any injury though and today's absence from practice may be the first acknowledgement that the captain isn't quite right.

Now, this isn't to say that McDavid will be out of the lineup for tonight's game. It's a bit premature to make that call just yet, but you can bet that head coach Kris Knoblauch will be grilled on McDavid's status when he meets with the media later today. Stay tuned.
