The perfect response!
The Nashville Predators swung a trade yesterday, sending veteran forward Cody Glass along with a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In return, they received prospect Jordan Frasca.
Glass, who is set to enter the final season of the two-year contract (AAV of $2.5 million) he signed in 2023, appeared in 41 regular seasons games with Nashville in 2023-24, scoring six goals with seven assists; he didn't appear during Nashville's Round 1 Stanley Cup Playoffs loss to the Vancouver Canucks.
He's scored a total of 29 goals and 42 assists in 187 regular-season games since being drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights with the No. 6 overall selection in 2017, which apparently isn't enough offensive output in the mind of one particular upset Penguins fan that referred to him as a "scrub".
"Our team is burdened by large contracts for the old guys. Leaving not much room to fill in the team with scrubs. This guy is a scrub. Scrubs don't win anything," wrote daily_grinds on X.
Not long afterward, it would be Glass himself responding with a friendly request for the Penguins fan to give him a chance.
"Dude give me a chance hahaha" he responded.
Will Glass be able to have a successful first year with the Penguins and potentially parlay that into an extended stay in Steel City before he can become a free agent next summer?
