Despite a disappointing overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens yesterday, the Vegas Golden Knights are having a pretty good start to their season. That is especially true when it comes to their offensive production.

Mark Stone, Max Pacioretty, William Karlsson, Reilly Smith, Paul Stastny, Jonathan Marchessault, the entirety of Vegas' top 6 in offense is producing admirably. However, there is a 7th guy in the offense who has enjoyed a great start to the season, and a great start to his NHL career.

Cody Glass already has 3 goals and 7 points in 14 games played. Not too bad for a rookie! The 2017 6th overall pick and the first ever player drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights has barely made his first steps in the league, but he has already become a valuable part of the Golden Knights' offense.

In an interview with Elite Prospects Rinkside, the right-handed centerman spoke about what it took for him to make a place for himself in the league as well as the reasons for his early success. Glass started by talking about his father.

"I respect him a lot for what he does for me. I know he’s a loving parent", said the 20-year old who added that his father "just wants to show off his kids a lot." Glass brings this up because his dad is quite active on social media when it comes to he and his brother's achievements. "I think he posts most of my life experiences on Twitter or Facebook or something like that. Sometimes he’s gotta stay off there but he’s a proud dad."

As important as parental love and support is for young athletes, it isn't the only reason, nor the most important for Glass' performance so far in the NHL. The rookie spoke about the will and desire required to get to the NHL, but most importantly, the work that must be done off the ice in the off season.

"I’ve been itching for this ever since I was a little kid and I’ve always wanted to make it to the NHL. For the days you are in the gym you have to make the most of it. I’m trying to get more strength and be more explosive as a hockey player. I think I did well when I was in the gym.", he explained.

It certainly seems like the work that Glass has been putting in off the ice has paid off for him and has made him a competitive and productive player on the ice this early in his career.
