Cole Caufield announces he's switching to no. 13 to honor Johnny Gaudreau 💙🤍❤
An emotional message from Caufield who calls Gaudreau, “my hero.”
This past weekend, after the death of NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield shared a photo of Gaudreau on social media calling him, "my hero."
Being a speedy and highly skilled offensive player of limited stature himself, Caufield admired how the 5'9", 163lb Gaudreau carried himself in the NHL's tough environment. Neither player is gifted in size, Caufield himself stands 5'8" and weighs 175lbs, but they make up for it in skill, creativity and downright determination.
Tonight Caufield paid the ultimate tribute to Gaudreau, his ultimate hero: He announced he will be switching his jersey number to 13 in honor of Gaudreau.
