From forcing overtime, to scoring the game-winner, Caufield adds this to his list of accomplishments.
Montreal Canadiens sensational young forward Cole Caufield can do it all. Not only did he draw his team even at 2-2 with 20 seconds remaining in the third period, but he also scored his second goal of the game with three seconds left in overtime. The Habs therefore rallied for a 3-2 victory against the Nashville Predators at Bell Centre on Thursday.
It was the fifth goal in three games and second straight overtime goal for Caufield, who scored at 3:25 to give the Canadiens a 5-4 win against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday.
With that, he made history, scoring his 10th overtime goal to move ahead of Aurel Joliat and tie Howie Morenz and Max Pacioretty for the most in Canadiens history. He also extended his point streak to four games (seven points; five goals, two assists).
He also became the fastest player in NHL history to score 10 times in overtime, requiring 292 games. The previous mark was held by Frank Finnigan (304 games).
It marks the second time Caufield has scored overtime goals in consecutive games. He also accomplished the feat back on May 1 and 3, 2021.
He is just incredible, and so exciting to watch.
Fans in Montreal are lucky to have him on the ice.
