Colorado Avalanche reveal G Darcy Kuemper's status for Game 4

The Avs will be going for the sweep tonight.

The high-flying Colorado Avalanche have had their way with the Nashville Predators so far in their opening round Stanley Cup Playoff series, outscoring their opponents by a 16-6 margin while taking a 3-0 advantage with relative ease.

Tonight, they'll be looking to punch their ticket to the second round, which can be achieved with one more win over the Predators as the two teams gear up for Game 4 at Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville. However, the Avs will be without one key part of their team.

Goaltender Darcy Kuemper, who was injured in Game 3 after the stick from forward Ryan Johansen poked through his face mask, won't be between the pipes tonight. Instead, it will be capable backup Pavol Francouz getting the start. The team has also recalled goaltender Justus Annunen from their American Hockey League affiliate to serve as backup.

Head coach Jared Bednar explained that while Kuemper is doing fine, there is still a bit too much swelling around his eye. Given the fact that Colorado is in firm control of the series, starting Francouz tonight in net shouldn't be much of a hindrance to their advancing past the Predators.

Tonight's game will begin at 9:30 PM EST.
