When meeting with reporters on opening day of training camp in Boston, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced that David Pastrnak will not be skating during the first few days of training camp. The star forward was absent from the first skate, and it was quickly noticed.

Sweeney explained that Pastrnak has tendinitis and should begin skating with the rest of the team next week.

“David Pastrnak won’t skate for the first couple of days. His last training block, he had a little tendonitis. He’ll be in full practice early next week.”

With Pastrnak being the Bruins’ top star, his absence on the first day of camp quickly went viral. The team is however being cautious with their best player, making sure he is healthy when puck drop comes around for the season opener. Boston needs to bounce back after a disastrous 2024-25 campaign.

Despite the Bruins missing out of the postseason, prompting the club to trade out beloved captain Brad Marchand to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, Pastrnak had an amazing season. He led the team with 43 goals, 63 assists, and 106 points in 82 games.

There is no doubt that the Bruins need the best version of Pasta moving into the upcoming season and are now only hoping that resting will help Pastrnak get through his ongoing issue.

See why they've always needed him, and even more now so:
