Conflicting reports of rumored trade between Ducks and Habs.

Talk around the National Hockey League has been building regarding a potential trade between the Anaheim Ducks and the Montreal Canadiens, however a new report from one of the NHL's top insiders appears to be refuting those rumors.

In his most recent 31 thoughts article, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman touched on the rumors that the Ducks and Habs were in talks for a trade that would have sent veteran forward Alex Galchenyuk to the Ducks, presumably in exchange for Anaheim giving up some of it's depth on defense. However it sounds like Galchenyuk's newfound success alongside Jonathan Drouin may have the Habs reconsidering.

From Friedman:

Finally on Montreal, there were rumblings of potential Anaheim interest in Alex Galchenyuk. I don’t think it’s a match. P.J. Stock’s been saying for months Galchenyuk should be with Jonathan Drouin, and, so far, it looks good.

The former first round pick has reportedly not been in the good graces of head coach Claude Julien, and as a result has had his name come up often in trade rumors around the league. While it wouldn't be a surprise if he still does eventually get dealt, Friedman does not believe that the rumored deal to Anaheim will be the one that does it.
