The National Hockey league was treated to a showdown between NHL superstar Sidney Crosby and superstar of the future Connor Bedard this week, and it did not disappoint.

Not only did we get to see "The Kid" take on the new kid but it also resulted in some pretty awesome moments, some of which were thankfully caught on camera. On Saturday, the NHL shared another one of those moments with us when they published a video that shows Bedard discussing his legendary opponent in reverent fashion during an exchange with one of the league's on-ice officials.

In the clip Bedard can be heard lamenting the fact that he has been entirely unable to win so much as a single faceoff against Crosby, his childhood idol, although he does take pride in going even against him on a few occasions. Not only does this showcase the level of skill that Crosby has achieved in his career, but it is also a display of Bedard''s genuine character and competitive drive to be the best player that he can be.

The comments are similar to the ones Bedard made publicly, including during a brief interview on the bench when he discussed getting beat by his idol on the opening faceoff of the game.

In case you missed that opening faceoff, which Crosby did in fact win pretty cleanly, you can check out the replay just below:
