Connor Bedard goes viral on Sunday for all of the wrong reasons.
Chicago Blackhawks superstar forward Connor Bedard has gone viral on Sunday and unfortunately he is doing so for all of the wrong reasons.
A video that was published on social media on Sunday morning has called out Bedard for how he treats his fans after Bedard was recorded repeatedly refusing to sign an autograph. While Bedard is being made out to look like the bad guy here, there is more than meets the eye to this story.
The video begins and it shows Bedard simply walking down the street with his group when suddenly a man begins to ask Bedard to sign a piece of memorabilia. That man isn't just some random fan however and is flanked by two other men who are also seeking autographs, with the entire set up looking like a professional operation that will look to quickly resell the items that they get signed.
Bedard, who likely notices what I have just described, immediately refuses to sign the items and walks away from the men seeking his autograph. It is at that moment however that Bedard and his group begin to be followed by the men who continue to ask Bedard for his autograph over and over again despite the young National Hockey League forward clearly having no interest in doing so.
After several long moments of being pestered Bedard does eventually relent and does sign the item in question, but does so in a manner that makes it appear as though he simply wants to be rid of a nuissance.
Making matters worse for Bedard, the video was published with a rather uncharitable interpretation of events.
"Connor Bedard of the NHL Chicago Blackhawks shows zero humanity to this guy in what would have taken 2 seconds to be a decent person," reads the message above the video. "These sellouts are just under a lot of pressure right now, and not at peace."
Thankfully there have been many who have responded to the video, which has amassed over a million views in very short order, have been quick to defend Bedard who is arguably the victim of harassment in this situation.
Let me know what you think of this situation in the comments.
