Connor Bedard remains the hottest name in the NHL Draft conversation with all eyes on him this week at the World Junior championship. There were talks early in the season that a few NHL teams were even looking to tank in order to get the best chances of landing the first overall pick at the upcoming lottery.

However, Bedard has been trending along with another famous name in the NHL, and that’s Eric Lindros. Halfway through the 2022-23 season, fans keep wondering if Bedard could pull a Lindros and choose his own team. Rumours points to the young forward wanting to play only for the Vancouver Canucks, and earlier this week as the World Juniors got underway, Bedard was trending on social media and on Reddit where fans debated on whether the projected first overall pick would pull a Lindros.

“Did the NHL implement sanctions for pulling a Lindros, hypothetically could Bedard say he doesn’t want to play for anyone but Vancouver?”

We all remember back in 1991 when despite Lindros stating before the draft that he would hold out and refuse to play for Quebec, the Nordiques selected him first overall. A massive trade took place for him to be moved to the Philadelphia Flyers.

We haven’t seen anything like this at an NHL Draft since Lindros, but now fans are wondering more and more and Bedard could repeat history…

Bedard leads the Canadian Hockey League with 64 points in 28 games, and the Western Hockey League in goals (27) and assists (37) despite not playing for Regina since Dec. 4.

All eyes are on him ahead of the NHL Draft and we bet we will hear more rumours about what he might do ahead of the draft.
